At the EIMA international agricultural machinery exhibition earlier this month, Ferrari Growtech had an impressive piece of equipment on the show floor weed control. Named the Twistweed, this automated weeder uses artificial intelligence to identify and remove weeds from between planted crops in the field.

A camera on the Twistweed detects plants at 10 images/sec and compares it with preloaded images in the software allowing the machine to distinguish weeds from plants, says Alessandro Corbetta with Ferrari Growtech. Artificial intelligence enhances this process to make the machine work to its optimum. In the video above, Corbetta shares more about how the machine works.
