Alberta crop conditions are well above average, pointing to big yields, the provincial government said Friday in its most recent crop report as of July 30.
* Overall crop rating was 87.5 per cent in good or excellent condition, down slightly from previous 87.6 per cent (as of July 16).
* The five-year average rating for all crops in good or excellent condition is 65.8 per cent.
* Yields estimated 10 per cent to 20 per cent above long-term averages for spring cereals, canola and peas. Winter wheat yields projected 5 per cent above long-term averages.
* Ratings of good or excellent condition by crop (5-year average): spring wheat 87.4 per cent (67.4 per cent); durum 85.3 per cent (75.5 per cent); barley 87.4 per cent (67.9 per cent); oats 88.8 per cent (62 per cent); canola 87.7 per cent (61.3 per cent); peas 88.9 per cent (69.1 per cent).
