Corn, soybean, wheat, forage and cover crop hybrids and varieties will be presented at Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show in Woodstock this September. Visitors can take in the company plots at their usual place on the show site along the north and west sides of the main site. The crop plots allow visitors to make side-by-side comparisons of the latest crop offerings from numerous seed companies and organizations.
Farmtario asked these companies and organizations what growers can expect to see in the crop plots. Here is the information we received by our press deadline:
Agromart Group
The Agromart Group, a joint venture between Sollio Agriculture and 23 outlets across eastern Canada, will feature Enlist E3 soybean varieties planted by supplier Stine Seed.
At Agromart’s Outdoor Farm Show site, Stine’s Canadian seed lead Dan Foster said the company has also put in corn comparison plots with and without PurYield nitrogen fertilizer.
PurYield, a brand of enhanced-efficiency fertilizers (EEF) developed by Pursell Agri-Tech, sets nutrients in a polymer coating that slows N conversion and volatilization, which in turn makes N available to plants for a longer stretch of the growing season, in keeping with 4R nutrient stewardship practices.
Altoya Seeds
Altoya Seeds is introducing three new soybean varieties to their trial plots. Falling within the 2975, 2850, and 2775 CHU ranges, the latest additions are demonstrating strong performance and outstanding potential in the field.
A diverse plot lineup ranging from 2600 to 3200 CHU will mark Brevant Seeds’ second year at the Outdoor Farm Show under the new Altoya Seeds distribution.
“With something for nearly every grower in attendance, it’s a great opportunity to connect, share insights, and meet new producers,” said Chloé Villeneuve, Altoya Seeds sales coordinator.
Bayer Crop Science/Dekalb
Bayer says it’s looking forward to sharing the latest in its new genetics and traits, as well as highlighting Bayer corn, bean and wheat herbicides in a demonstration.
Key traits on display will include the firm’s VT4PRO and Smartstax Pro systems.
VT4PRO combines three built-in modes of action against corn rootworm. There’s an “elite” above-ground mode and two below-ground modes that combine to give farmers the latest tools to fight this pest.
SmartStax PRO is a similar “all-in rootworm fighter” for corn growers. It combines the proven SmartStax system with cutting-edge RNAi technology, which Bayer says more than doubles rootworm protection versus competing product.
Additionally, the company is building on Dekalb’s long and rich history with growers, launching a “History Makers” campaign at Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show. Bayer says they’ll be showing past harvests through a “seed museum,” and exploring different hybrids and varieties that showcase how it makes the technology of today possible.
Corteva Agriscience/ Pioneer HiBred
Growers will to see the company’s relatively new Enlist E3 Z series soybeans in plots at the Outdoor Farm Show. They bring “exciting yield potential with superior agronomics” for Ontario growers, the company says.
During extensive testing in the U.S. during the 2024 growing season, the company says these soybeans outyielded competitors by 3.7 bushels an acre.
On the corn plot side of things, they’ll be showcasing their growing lineup, highlighting new trait technologies like PowerCore Enlist hybrids and Vorceed Enlist hybrids. Both feature three modes of action against above-ground insect pests, providing broad-spectrum and long-lasting control. The company says having herbicide tolerance to multiple herbicides offers flexible weed management.
DLF
After a year of limited moisture in many areas of the province, DLF is eager to showcase its Soil First Cover Crop mixtures and proprietary forage portfolio to help growers plan their 2026 field rotation.
Sylvia Megens, DLF product manager, said that DLF’s corn hybrids, including their newest with the latest VT4Pro trait technology offering above- and below-ground pest protection along with western bean cutworm control, will be on display along with DLF’s unique turfgrass plots.
Maizex
Maizex says farmers will be most interested in their 300 bu./ac corn plot, where they are showcasing the ability of Maizex hybrid MZ 4703DBR to achieve top-end yield.
This plot is alongside other plots that feature work with Honeyland Labs and their Staygreen Project, which aims to help farmers increase their corn yields year over year. Farmers will also be interested in the company’s other agronomy research, including small demo plots looking at sulphur on soybeans, as well as flex trials featuring a ‘kernel mass’ hybrid (MZ 4026SSP) and a ‘kernel number’ hybrid (MZ 4049SMX).
The company is excited to launch its Ration 365 initiative, which brings together Maizex silage corn and forages to highlight the total ration solution that Maizex offers as an industry leader in these product portfolios. Maizex is hosting a corn roast from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day of the show, when sweet corn will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
OSCIA and OMAFA
The Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association and OMAFA will have a soil pit beside perennial biomass crops (miscanthus and switchgrass) to demonstrate root systems and carbon sequestration, says OSCIA’s Cathy Dibble. They also will be highlighting the Delta N nitrogen research project as well as tar spot treatments in the corn plot. Learn about the Yield Enhancement Network’s wheat results and a five-inch seed drill will also be demonstrated.
The cover crop plot will showcase various mixes targeted to specific goals such as compaction reduction, erosion control and additional forage supply and ties in well with funding programs which OSCIA delivers.
Pride Seeds
Pride Seeds’ lineup features high-performance hybrids and advanced agronomic insights designed to maximize yield potential and profitability.
Ten new corn introductions, ranging from 2125 CHU to 3225 CHU, will catch the attention of producers. Designed for Ontario’s growing conditions, the latest offerings feature enhanced disease resistance, stress tolerance, and insect protection, including VT4Pro, which defends against corn rootworm and western bean cutworm. The seven new soybean lines offer versatile placement, high yields, and herbicide choices to suit your operation, with maturities spanning from 0.5 MG to 2.3 MG.
Information on high-quality silage-specific hybrids that deliver a combination of high tonnage, high digestibility and greater gain per acre will be presented along with hybrid performance in real-world conditions.
Prograin
Quebec-based Prograin said in a statement its soybean demo plots at the show will display “a diverse selection of varieties from the IP, R2X and E3 series” that “reflect our ongoing commitment to innovation, performance and quality.”
The show plots, the company said, will offer farmers “a valuable opportunity to explore proven genetics, compare different options, and identify the best soybean varieties to meet the specific needs of their fields.”
Sevita
This year’s Sevita soybean plot at Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show will feature the company’s full lineup of food-grade and traited soybeans. The company is known for its food-grade and specialty traits in soybeans. The plot features food-grade varieties from RM 0.2 (2575 CHU) to RM 2.4 (3125 CHU). Traited soybeans offer more flexibility for farmers with three different trait packages. The plot features traited varieties from RM 00.9 (2,500 CHU) to RM 1.9 (3,000 CHU).
Syngenta
Syngenta said it plans to showcase its “full lineup” of NK corn and soybean varieties in its plots at this year’s show, featuring Enogen corn, NK corn and NK soybeans with Enlist, Xtend and XtendFlex trait platforms.
Among those, NK Seeds agronomist Emma Dieleman said, will be seven new corn hybrids and nine new soybean varieties, showing “significant advancements in our breeding program.”
Livestock producers, she added, will be “particularly interested” in Syngenta’s Enogen corn offerings. Syngenta bills its Enogen hybrids as featuring an alpha amylase enzyme to help convert starch to sugar more efficiently than traditional corn silage, “providing more readily available energy to beef and dairy cattle.”
WinField United
This season at Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show, the WinField United/CROPLAN plots are all about delivering return on investment for farmers. They are dialed into hybrid response scores – those powerful tools that help growers unlock the full potential of their management strategies. By tailoring hybrid selection to field-specific conditions, WinField United aims to show how precision pays off.
Also making their debut are two additions to the CROPLAN lineup: 3540VT4P and 2130VT2P. These new hybrids are built to perform and turning heads with their agronomic muscle and yield potential. The company urges farmers to check out the data behind the hybrids’ performance.
