Two of Ontario’s largest John Deere dealers are merging, creating one dealer that will cover from central southern Ontario to Kingston.
Premier Equipment, with 11 locations by the end of July, is acquiring Green Tractors, a dealership with nine locations.
The deal, set to close in November, will create the largest John Deere dealer in Ontario with 20 locations.

HJV unveils split grader with Tomra Optical Sorter at Potato Field Day
At Ontario’s Potato Field Day, farmers got a first look at HJV’s Split Grader prototype. Paired with a Tomra 3A optical sorter, the system removes green potatoes and debris at 100 tons per hour, improving storage quality and reducing labour needs.
Why it matters: Consolidation in equipment dealerships means there are fewer choices for farmers, but larger dealers have more in-house expertise and machinery selection.
Premier Equipment has been on an aggressive growth pathway, adding a location in Stouffville, formerly Hutchinson Farm Supply in February, Hagersville by acquiring W.J. Heaslip Ltd. in April and Belleville with the acquisition of Deerhaven Lawn and Garden Ltd., which closes at the end of July.
The string of acquisitions began after the 2024 partnership between Premier and Stotz Equipment, a 25-location American dealership operating in eight western states.
“Premier’s growth initiatives in 2025 are carrying out a goal that has been years in the making,” says Allan Dueck, president of Premier Equipment.
Green Tractors was formed in 2010 during the first wave of John Deere-encouraged consolidation.
Karl Davis and Ken Svendsen have been co-CEOs of Green Tractors, which was formed with locations in Nobleton, Brampton, Milton, Omemee, and Port Perry. Earlton was added in 2012, Kingston and Odessa locations in 2014 and the Orono location in 2022.
Green Tractors will bring more markets in turf care, light construction, golf and municipal areas to Premier Equipment.
