Jersey Ontario held a first sale on its new online platform to help dairy farmers to meet December incentive days and a quota increase.

The Dec. 12 sale had 30 animals offered. The sale grossed more than $60,700 and averaged $2,024.

The Jersey Ontario’s SNF Buster Sale was hosted for the first time on Jersey Ontario’s jerseyontario.hibid.com platform.

The top seller was RJF Colton Imagery, consigned by Robert Jarell Farms of Corbyville, Ont. and sold for $2,800 to Markus and Brenda Lothmann of East Garafaxa, Ont.

Farmers are also preparing for a change in solids-not-fat pricing in February. Jerseys produce more milk solids than Holsteins.
