Gay Lea Foods sells Grober Nutrition business

Gay Lea Foods Co-operative Limited announced June 24 it has entered into an agreement to sell Cambridge, Ont.-based animal nutrition business Grober Nutrition to CG Wellington Inc.

Operating in Canada and throughout the world, CG Wellington is a Canadian family-owned, private investment company with more than 40 years of experience in agriculture and specialized expertise in dairy production.

Other dairy companies owned by CG Wellington include Norwell Dairy Systems, Promat, and DairyPRO.

In a release, CG Wellington Inc. said it prides itself on investing in high-quality agricultural businesses that align with their long-term commitment to animal health, performance, and innovation, making it a strong strategic fit for Grober, a global leader in young animal nutrition and feed management.

Gay Lea Foods said the divestiture unlocks new opportunities for strategic investments in dairy processing in support of its ambition to drive sustainable, profitable growth in the Canadian dairy industry on behalf of the co-operative’s 1,200 members.

Under the terms of the agreement, Grober Nutrition will continue to operate in Cambridge and all employees will continue in their current roles. The business will also continue to source dairy from Gay Lea Foods.

The sale is expected to close on June 30, 2025, subject to customary closing conditions. Financial terms were not disclosed.
