The new Puma series has received styling and option updates for 2021.

Case IH now has its new Puma tractor version into Canada, after its arrival was delayed by COVID-19-driven challenges.

The new Puma is split into two groups, based on short and long wheelbase.

The shorter wheelbase tractor is more maneuverable, with lower horsepower, whereas the longer wheelbase tractors are more powerful and with more options for transmission and customization with digital additions.

Agco settles legal dispute with TAFE

Agco and Tractors and Farm Equipment (TAFE) from India announced July 1 that they had settled their legal dispute, which began in 2024 over local ownership of the Massey Ferguson brand name and other concerns.

Patrick Landry, a high horsepower product specialist with Case IH talked about the new Pumas as well as the all-new Vestrum tractor now available in Canada, at Crop Stop, the recent crop-based show put on by Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show in late September. See the Sept. 20 edition of Farmtario or farmtario.com for reporting on the Vestrum.

Case IH was joined by the other major equipment manufacturers along with leading crop input companies at the show.

The Puma 150 and 165 models are part of the short wheelbase line, with the 185, 200, 220 and 240 available as part of the longer wheelbase. Case IH had a 240 model at the show, and it was equipped with the CVXDrive continuously variable transmission. It is only available on the 240 model. The other long wheelbase models are equipped with the PowerDrive transmission.

The most striking change to the Puma tractors is an all-new grill and lighting package.

“If you look, the working lights are completely different from the past,” says Landry. “When you are working late in the night, it’s going to give you better visibility in front of the tractor.”

The front hitch has been redesigned so that it’s closer to the tractor and can lift heavier weights.

The Puma is equipped with the 6.7 litre, six-cylinder engine used in many Case IH products around the world. Horsepower ranges from 150 to 240.

That engine is now at Stage 5 in emissions requirements. This has also meant that because the engine runs cleaner, users can wait until 750 hours before an oil change is needed, compared to 600 hours previously, says Landry.

The Pumas all have the company’s AFS Connect digital management system and with a Pro 700 display on a longer wheelbase version, the farmer can fine-tune the tractor’s transmission to better suit usage, such as slower or quicker reversing speed if needed.

The Puma tractors are now available to order through Case IH dealers and there are some available for demonstration across the country.
