Deere and Co. plans to boost the capacities of its parts depots in Regina as well as in three U.S. locations, making Regina a regional parts centre for the machinery firm.
The company said in a release Friday that it plans to expand its primary parts distribution centre at Milan, Ill., west of Chicago near the Iowa state line, by over 300,000 square feet “to meet the capacity needs of the growing parts business.”
Also, the company’s emergency parts depots at Regina and at Portland, Ore. will both be renovated to “assume expanded responsibilities” for operation as regional distribution centres, the company said.

Deere’s Regina parts depot is on Park Street in the northeast of the Saskatchewan capital, just off the Louis Riel Trail, also called the Ring Road.
Operations at a fourth parts depot at Stockton, Calif., about 75 km south of Sacramento, will be moved south to nearby Lathrop, with expansion there “to support greater responsibilities.”
The regional distribution centres are expected to go into operation between November this year and September 2009. Deere’s total cost for these projects was not released.
