Kansas beef plant shuts down after fire

National Beef Packing Company, one of four major U.S. beef processors, said it suspended production at its Liberal, Kansas, plant for a second day on Friday, after a fire.

Canadian beef producers pay more than their American counterparts for SRM removal, and some Ontario beef farmers want the BFO to ask the Canadian Cattle Association to set money aside to fight to harmonize the fees.
