Through the Canadian Agricultural Partnership (the Partnership), the federal and provincial governments have launched the Enhanced Agri-food Workplace Protection Program to help agriculture producers and provincially licensed meat processors enhance health and safety measures to prevent the spread of the COVID-19.

  • Purchasing personal protective equipment
  • Implementing frequent and thorough cleaning and disinfection
  • Redesigning workstations and worker accommodations

Funded Consulting and Training

Under this program, the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) is providing funding to Workplace Safety & Prevention Services (WSPS) to help farmers and other agri-food businesses provide safe workplaces, and improve effective management of the risk of COVID-19 for:

  • Agricultural producer operations such as farms, greenhouses and horticultural production operations, livestock production operations and field/cash crop production.
  • Provincially licenced abattoirs and meat processors
  • Food processors with 1-49 employees excluding temporary workers
