Jeff Harrison has been elected as chair of the board of directors for the Grain Farmers of Ontario.
Harrison is the director for District 12 (Durham, Northumberland, Kawartha, Peterborough, Hastings) and has served on the Grain Farmers of Ontario (GFO) board since 2016. He farms with his family in Quinte West.
Why it matters: Grain Farmers of Ontario is the largest farmer commodity board in Ontario.

Together, we will continue to cultivate high-quality, locally sourced grains that are both nourishing and accessible, contributing to the well-being of our communities across Ontario, Canada, and beyond,” he said.
“It’s crucial for our governments, customers, and the public to fully grasp the significance of grain farming to our economy, the well-being of our farmer-members, and the sustainability of our industry.”
GFO also has a new executive committee. In addition to Harrison as chair, Josh Boersen, District 9 (Perth) and Julie Maw, District 3 (Lambton) will serve as vice chairs, and Steve Twynstra, District 4 (Middlesex) as executive member.
Harrison replaces Brendan Byrne, who served as chair of the board for the past three years.
