Forigo is an Italian equipment-maker specializing in tools for the horticulture and specialty crops sectors. At the EIMA agricultural machinery show in Italy last November, the company presented a new, fully electric platform named the EnerG on the show floor.

According to its website, the EnerG is equipped with two high-energy-density lithium batteries and an advanced remote diagnostics systems to monitor the tool’s operating conditions. It also simultaneously operates up to three agricultural tools in autonomous mode, and up to two tools in a driver-controlled version. As part of its onboard Quantix Technology, the machine’s autonomous ability allows the EnerG to optimize travel for high-level precision for tasks such as seeding, fertilizing, and weed control.

Ontario invests $3 million protecting the Lake Simcoe Watershed

Ontario continues to encourage farmers to adopt technologies reducing phosphorus runoff into local watersheds with a $3 million Farm Washwater Innovation and Stewardship program addressing the Lake Simcoe Watershed.

“With just one pass, EnerG can, for instance, mulch, till, and seed the soil, all in a completely green way without the need for an internal combustion engine. The machine is 100 per cent electric and self-sufficient in the field,” said Sandro Forigo, the creator of this year’s technical innovation and co-owner of Roter Italia srl in a press release during the show.

During an interview for the Technical Innovation Awards at the show, Forigo added that the EnerG could also be equipped with other types of tools in the future depending on a growers’ specifications.
