A farmer in Huron County has reported to Ontario Provincial Police that he lost 15,000 chicks in mid-May. The same farmer reported a loss of 30,000 chicks in April.
The OPP reports that the farmer said the first batch of chicks went missing sometime between April 19 and April 20, according to Global News. Huron Perth Crime Stoppers reported the farmer attended a chicken barn on their property located on Line 17, South Huron, and found that approximately 30,000, 15-day old chicks were missing. He had checked on the barn the previous day at approximately 3:30 p.m. The value of the chicks at that time was approximately $1.40/chick.
According to Huron OPP, the farmer noticed the second loss on May 15 and reported it to police on May 18.
