The Canadian Wheat Board will offer Prairie grain farmers the option to download podcasts of analysis and crop outlooks to hear on their home computers or portable MP3 players.
(Podcasts are downloadable radio-style broadcasts available from a number of web sites. The name came from their introduction on iTunes, the online music store operated by Apple, makers of the iPod portable music player.)
These podcasts will be available through the CWB’s E-services web page. In its first podcast, the CWB’s sales policy analysts discuss the data used to calculate the board’s latest pool return outlook (PRO), which was released last week and included a record-high outlook for milling durum. (No. 1 CWAD 14.5 was marked up to $446 a tonne.)
“Our podcasts are like listening to a special radio broadcast designed just for wheat and barley farmers,” said board e-communications manager Richard Martin in a release. “You can choose where and when to tune in to the topics that matter most to your own businesses.”
