The Canadian manufacturer of Versatile tractors has signed a deal with South Dakota’s Raven Industries to supply precision ag equipment for its tractor and self-propelled sprayer lines.

The partnership between Raven and Versatile manufacturer Buhler Industries of Winnipeg means Raven’s technology can now be ordered as a factory- or dealer-installed option on Versatile equipment, Buhler marketing manager Adam Reid said in a release Monday.

Versatile’s new branded precision ag system, or VPAS, is to include a combination of Raven’s SCS consoles, Cruizer guidance system, Envizio Pro and Viper Pro field computers, and SmarTrax assisted steering products.

“Versatile machines can be ordered today with the VPAS option for delivery around the world,” the two companies said, with options ranging from basic application controls up to integrated hydraulic steering and field computers.

“Precision products offered with VPAS are also scalable, which gives the customer the flexibility of starting at entry level and continu(ing) to build on their system as their needs grow and change, or they can start with a fully integrated system,” Reid said.

Matt Burkhart, general manager for Sioux Falls-based Raven’s applied technology division, said the company’s goal of providing a comprehensive line of precision ag equipment worldwide is best reached through partnerships with companies having the “international presence and respect” of Buhler and Versatile.
