Dow AgroSciences Canada has picked up registration for use of its new Group 2 herbicide Simplicity against grass and broadleaf weeds in spring wheat and durum.

Simplicity, a cross-spectrum pyroxsulam herbicide, can be tank-mixed with MCPA Ester or Attain for “excellent overall” broadleaf weed control, Dow marketing manager Chad Lesyk said in a release Monday.

However, Lesyk added, the product can instead be tank-mixed with products such as Dow’s Frontline or Spectrum, Bayer Crop Science’s Buctril M or DuPont’s Refine Extra “for additional control of hard-to-kill broadleaf weeds.”

Dow said the product is available by the 80-acre case, is non-residual and is rainfast in four hours. Simplicity offers wheat growers a low application rate, flexibility in tank mixes and crop rotation, and “an effective management option for Group 1-resistant wild oats,” Lesyk said.

The product should be applied to actively growing weeds at the three- to six-leaf stage of the crop, the company said in a product brochure.
