Fruit and vegetable processors in New Brunswick are among those expected to benefit from a new public cold storage facility to be built at Portage.
The provincial government on Monday announced a $180,000 forgivable loan for Maritime Cold Storage to help cover capital costs to set up and equip the new facility.
The locally owned company was set up to build new public refrigerated warehousing for produce and seafood processors, and is expected to create 10 jobs in the area.
Finance Minister Victor Boudreau made the funding announcement at Cap Pele, with Charles Robichaud, vice-president of Maritime Cold Storage and Serge Doucet, executive-director of Enterprise South-East.
