MarketsFarm — Most July deliveries of major grains in the country were higher than those from the same period a year ago, Statistics Canada reported Thursday.
Total grain deliveries this past month tallied 4.056 million tonnes for a jump of 43.8 per cent over the previous July.
All wheat came in at 2.186 million tonnes, improving 43.8 per cent from July 2022. However, durum tallied 180,236 tonnes, for a 21.1 per cent drop from July to July.
Among other cereals, oats skyrocketed 173.6 per cent on deliveries of 292,853 tonnes last month, while rye bumped up 6.3 per cent at 15,365 tonnes. Barley slipped 5.4 per cent at 158,194.
Canola also saw significant improvement in its July deliveries, rising 90 per cent at 1.384 million tonnes. Flax gained 30.3 per cent at 18,929 tonnes.
