The Grain Growers of Canada (GGC) announced today that a new president has been elected to lead the organization, following its annual general meeting in Ottawa.
Each member farm organization appoints a Director to the GGC Board, from which a 4 person executive is elected:
President – Doug Robertson (Alberta Barley Commission)
Vice President – Stephen Vandervalk (Western Canadian Wheat Growers)
Executive – Allan Ling (Atlantic Grains Council)
Executive – Gary Stanford (Alberta Winter Wheat Producers Commission)

“I am honoured to be able to serve as the President of the Grain Growers for the upcoming year,” said Doug Robertson. “We have set our priorities and I am excited about working on progressive agriculture policy.”

 “I would like recognize and thank our out-going President, Ross Ravelli. His leadership and inspiration will be missed. As I look around our Board table though, I am excited to see new faces and ideas as we move forward.”
“We will be involved in many other issues facing our industry, like seed and crop inputs, on-farm food safety, sustainability and the environment, ” said Robertson. “But, we do need to focus in on some of root problems that continue to challenge us every year.”
