The Canadian Wheat Board’s Series B delivery calls for wheat and barley will start early this year, giving farmers who don’t yet know their grain’s grades or volumes a chance to deliver.
Series B calls this year will begin Nov. 1, the last day for Series A sign-up, the CWB said in a release Tuesday. Thus, farmers who can’t sign up Series A by Nov. 1 due to the late harvest and wet weather can immediately deliver on Series B.
“Due to wet and cold weather, most farmers have brought in their crop late, and some may still not know its quality,” CWB chief operating officer Ward Weisensel said.

“The special measures being taken by the CWB will help ensure farmers retain delivery opportunities as much as possible.”
The CWB on Tuesday also announced a guaranteed delivery contract (GDC) for Nos. 1 and 2 Canada Western Amber Durum (CWAD), with 100 per cent acceptance.
The GDC is in addition to the Series sign-up for durum, the board said, adding that it’s encouraging durum growers to deliver “wherever possible, to meet existing sales commitments to customers.”
