Prairie students planning careers in agriculture or agribusiness now have an earlier deadline to seek funding support through the Co-op Excellence in Ag program.
Excellence in Ag, Federated Co-operatives’ (FCL) multi-year scholarship and summer internship program, previously had a Jan. 31 deadline, but for the 2016 round, the application deadline will be Oct. 15 this year.
More details on the program, including eligibility requirements and this year’s essay/video topics, are available at local Co-op Agro Centres and online.

Federated Co-op cardlocks “fully operational” company says
Federated Co-op says it’s opening more cardlocks every day after a “cybersecurity incident” late last week, the company said on social media yesterday evening.
“We know that many students are already thinking about their employment options for next summer,” Trish Meyers, knowledge and innovation manager for FCL’s crop supplies department, said Tuesday in a release.
“By moving the application deadline forward, we are able to better respond to their needs and identify internship placements earlier.”
This fall, FCL said, four students, enrolled in either a diploma or degree program in agriculture or business, can receive up to $20,000 each through the program, which also offers paid summer internships and the opportunity for future employment and a signing bonus with an FCL member co-operative.
Recipients for 2015 included first-year students Colby Harty of Etzikom, Alta., Skye Feil of Swift Current, Sask., Carson Rodgers of MacGregor, Man. and Kiana Sajtos of St. Francois Xavier, Man., and second-year student Sara Grassick of Prince Albert, Sask. — AGCanada.com Network
