The union for about 1,700 locomotive engineers with Canadian National Railway (CN) has agreed to adjourn talks with the company until mid-November.
CN and the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) said Friday that they plan to resume talks with the assistance of federal mediators during the week of Nov. 16.
The engineers represented by the TCRC have been without a contract since their last collective agreement expired on Dec. 31 last year.
The company and union said they “remain optimistic” that they can negotiate a new agreement “without labour disruption.”
