CGC announces grading changes to western grains for 2010-11

The Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) has announced grain grading changes for the 2010-11 western crop year that will come into effect on August 1, 2010:

• Revised fusarium tolerances for the following classes of Western Canadian wheat:
Canada Western Red Spring
Canada Western Hard White Spring
Canada Western Amber Durum
Canada Prairie Spring Red
Canada Prairie Spring White
Canada Western Soft White Spring
Canada Western Feed

• Introduce excreta tolerances for grains that did not previously have established tolerances

• Move to percentage values for tolerances that were previously expressed as K values or kernel count except for Mustard (all classes).

• Release new standard sample for the grade Soybean, No. 1 Canada Yellow

• Release of a photo print representing the standard sample for the grade Soybean, No. 2 Canada Yellow
